Since this site was made in Oct 2004, 19 people have shown an interest in trialing organic dairy produce. Five more are currently in their first month of the trial, so expect an update in a few more weeks. Thank you all!
To get some meaningful results, I need to hear from people reporting negative as well as positive results, as it is I have assumed that if I don't hear back, the result is negative. This way I will at least not exagerate success.
So far then, assuming that people who did not report back saw no positive effects, 20% of persons having PMS for more than a year and not taking oral contraception or HRT had relief from breast pain by switching to organic milk. (The figure rises to 40% if I include a switch to soy milk and relief from other symptoms of PMS.)
The sample size is however still far too small to draw any conclusions, so if you have this problem join this trial. This is potentially such a simple solution it is really worth a go.
Two people experienced relief after changing to organic milk within a month. One person experiencing total loss of pain and an increase in pain after drinking more non organic milk. One other person lost her breast pain after switching to soy milk, but did not find organic milk useful.
One person reported that a change to organic milk coincided with a loss of her usual premenstrual headache.
One person solved the problem by revisiting the doctor to adjust the level of 'natural progesterone' cream she was using for HRT. Whilst another was uncertain of any effect.
As is the way with surveys, the majority of people (14 of the original 19), did not give any feedback. For these people I simply don't know whether it has had any effect or not. (I really don't mind negative results, so do try to get back to me even if you are still looking for a solution to your PMS after trying out organics)
Of the original nineteen people, five had circumstances that complicate the trial such as oral contraception, HRT, sudden onset of pain, recently given up the pill, and after menopause. Although what they have to say is still interesting, I have set them aside from the main trial.
To make a guess at the number of negative responses, I have assumed that those who did not contact me and the person who was uncertain, did not get any effect. From these I will subtract the five with complicating circumstances. This makes ten.
